New Paintings and a December Show in Point Reyes Station, CA

Hello art friends! It’s been a while, but I’m happy to have an update for you as we near the end of 2024. Two years in, my painting journey continues here in Petaluma. I’m on the hunt for a larger studio space, so if you have any suggestions, please let me know.

New Paintings

Here are a couple new works I had fun making. I hope you like them too. If interested, you can see them in person during the month of December at the Point Reyes show (more info below).

December Show in Point Reyes

I was honored to be invited to participate in a group show at Toby’s Gallery in Point Reyes (which is also a feed barn and gift shop, in case you’re wondering — but don’t let the name fool you). There are some incredible artists participating in the show including Kristian Matthews and Tim Horn. I’m truly humbled to be hanging on the wall next to painters I admire. The quality of work is really impressive for not only paintings, but pottery, woodworking, and weaving. I highly recommend making a trip to see it in person.

Reception info for Toby’s Gallery

Join us for the reception if you can! If not, I’ll be working a few shifts throughout the month. Reply to this email or send me a direct message and I’d be happy to meet you there.

Saturday December 7th, 1 to 4pm

On the Easel

Since you scrolled this far I wanted to share a little plein air sketch I painted yesterday in Point Reyes, across the street from Toby’s. The light was too good to pass up. Thanks for following along!

Artist Statement

Dan Rogers (b. 1978) is a Northern California-based oil painter who transitioned from a career in software engineering to pursue fine art. He studied for two years with the late Camille Przewodek, a world-renowned colorist and student of Henry Hensche. Camille’s guidance transformed Dan’s perception of light and color, shaping his approach to painting. Now working both outdoors and in the studio, he captures the landscapes of Northern California and the western United States, blending impressionist and realist traditions to convey a vivid sense of place and atmosphere.

Studio Warming Was a Hit! Sunday, August 10th marked the first open house of my downtown Petaluma studio. For the past eight months, I’ve been here learning, painting, planning, and preparing for upcoming shows at Paint Sausalito and Toby’s Gallery in Point Reyes Station this September. This was my first opportunity to share all that I’ve been working on. The studio warming was humbling and energizing. It gave me a chance to share my workspace, talk about my painting process, and open the...
